The service project experience is intended to broaden the horizons of the candidate by taking each person on a spiritual adventure and giving each person the opportunity to encounter the living Christ through service to others.
Service projects should stretch each candidate just a little beyond their comfort zone and help them recognize and appreciate their gifts which will be strengthened by the Holy Spirit at Confirmation. Ideally, the service project should be in a new area that you have not explored before. But candidates must also not overlook the regular volunteer work that they are making currently to both our parish and our society.
The service project is in three main parts – Family and Personal Catholic Faith Growth, Church, and Local Community. It is our hope that the Confirmation candidates will find their calling and recognize God actively working in their lives to deepen their faith and relationship with Christ, with their family and with others. We pray that all our candidates also recognize that they are loved by God and that they have a place within the OLOV community.
